However, it is quite possible the company has in place FX hedge contracts to protect their foreign currency balance sheet exposure.
If this is the case, then depending on what AUD/USD rate the cover is in place at, the conversion back to AUD could create a loss.
Alternatively, the USA asset may have been financed by USD debt. In such case there will be no FX conversion. Merely a reduction in debt.
