On face value it seems a great solution, with though given to logistics, technicals and affordability.
It would seem a cheaper running option for truckies.
If they are going to offer a battery hire/replacement option I hope they do their cash flows properly given the $120k price tag per battery unit.
Also, if you consider the number of trucks on the Sydney to Brisbane route, just 10% of the market would be a mind boggling number of battery swaps, with recharging going on in the background.
And given the average passenger EV uses the power taken to run a typical home for 2-3 days with every recharge, the battery swamp and recharge stations would be sucking a lot of power probably 24/7. On that basis the6 would need a savvy energy retail department or a savvy retailer partner on board.
Hope they do well … really well.
