Our flag - if we are to have ONE flag and NOT three
    - probably needs a rethink

The St. George's flag, a red cross on a white field, was adopted by England and the City of London in 1190 for their ships entering the Mediterranean to benefit from the protection of the Genoese fleet. The English Monarch paid an annual tribute to the Doge of Genoa for this privilege.

Part of our flag is Genoese - not that there is anything wrong with that - but as times have changed - so have our flags

This was our WWI flag the ANZACS fought under

The Commonwealth Blue Ensign was selected a a result of a public competition (over 30 000 designs were submitted); although selected in 1901 and gazetted in 1903, it was not given Royal assent and adopted as the definitive Australian flag until 1954 in the Flags Act 1953 (Act No. 1 of 1954)!

Maybe the VOICE money would have been better spent finding a flag that unites rather than divides this country
