Sth. African gold producers are having a tough time because of the rand's strength against the US dollar.
If our dollar continues to strengthen against the US dollar, without gold at least keeping up, then some of our producers could start getting in trouble.
It's no use having a gold bull in US dollar terms if our dollar appreciation against the US dollar gets rid of all gold's US dollar gains - and then some more.
Don't say that it can't happen. It can.
What is needed is people turning to gold in preference to currencies - any currency.
