Oldminer,
A fair days work for a fair days pay is an interesting concept.
Going back a couple of generations, when the term for first used, a fair days pay would have been enough for a man to support a wife and 3 children in a fibro cottage in regional Australia. Perhaps one second hand car, no plasma TV, I phone, Internet or Bali holiday.
I think this could still be done on a fruit pickers wages.
A fair days pay now has to pay for the Bali holiday, I phones for all the family, foxtel, 4x2 house in suburbs. In short it is benchmarked to a public servants pay.
This is unrealistic. We want the factory workers of the world to stock Bunnings and Aldi while we sit idle?
