For the younger one's don't think every Australian owned a house post federation---- they didn't

We had boarding houses and boarding homes that proliferated even up to the 1960's like holden car's on the road at the time.

If you wanted a home on a new estate in the late 50's you went 20 klick's from the CBD that had no infrastructure per say.

Until the property hit $200 K, you didn't pay stamp duty and the first home saver's grant on an average inner city Californian bungalow worked out at 8.35% of the purchase price in the late 70's,that didn't include the deposit that I had to save over the compulsory 2year's to show CONSISTENT savings as proof to pay the loan

Then welcome to negative gearing on every fixture screwed to the floor on a house that was built in the 30's.

So what has changed?,its the banks and we need to tell the bank's and government to piss off.

REjig the above what has been said and that means get rid of stamp duty, home savings grant that was before at the above inflation rate and stop scewing with rates from council's and rezoning by-laws.

In Victoria in the previous Labour government an idiot called Justin Madden screwed the local's in the outer suburbs with a high rise development that would only suit the cbd of Melbourne.

That previous incompetent Labour federal government had decided to build a 20 storey tax office that can be described as the fore runner of another Parramatta high rise disaster.

Until every one focus on the issue of how it should be affordable and fixed so there is a clear direction this forum will keep going around and around like a dog chasing its tail

    Start with the banks

P.S. if you think that prices will decline you are sadly mistaken, the secret is out the world know's about us and they are coming.
