Aussie now the 4th largest NBN retailer

The latest NBN Wholesale Market Indicators Report report came out last month showing NBN market data as of September 30th.

Comparing to the previous report ending June 30th, the NBN network as a whole has gained 17,000 new connections. The four biggest players, Telstra TPG, Optus and Vocus have all bled market share. Aussie broadband has gained 24,000 connections (from 556,758 to 580,985). Superloop, the 6th largest NBN reseller after Aussie, gained 23,000 connections (175,464 to 198,855). The remaining ISP's shared a total growth of 93,000 connections from 367,085 to 459,634.

Now, here's the big news we can infer. In this latest report, we've closed the gap to Vocus from 75,000 connections to just 20,000 as they've been bleeding marketshare while Aussie's been gaining. So by next report, which will be for December 31st, we will have certainly overtaken Vocus and taken 4th postion as were only 20,000 connections shy of them as of September 30th.

Given by the time these reports are released, the data is 2.5 months old, this in reality means we've already overtaken them, so I'd like to celebrate Aussie taking out 4th spot on the leaderboard! That's ahead of even Aussie Broadband's own projections as I don't think we anticipated Vocus losing 30,000 connections in the last quarter.

So there you go. A nice little milestone for Aussie reached a little sooner than expected.
