Yes, the whole of society and politicians are really culpable for the sorry state of our politics. This is also repeated across most first world countries. Imo the following is my reasoning behind the malaise many countries now face:
    1) Gone are the tough decisions that have to be made to run a country the politicians are continually more populist rather than pragmatic for country growth
    2) Across society in general, and politicians are symptomatic of society trends, everyone is after immediacy, no longer any patience
    3) Plans have gone out of the window, where is there a bona fide government approach to Australian Growth at federal level? State level?
    4) There is no force for change, the people lapse from labour to liberal and vice versa, the populace are lazy and a symptom of an easy life in general.
    5) So much to do and nobody wants to really work for it. The pollies don’t, they are on easy street and anathetic audience leaves them in power wallowing in the mud, noses in the trough. News changes within24 hours in our lightening quick society and thirst for yet another scandal to be shitty about for another 24 hours. Indiscretions of the previous 48 hours forgotten in the overwhelming morass of yet more triviata and mock outrage.

Society is currently rubbish. I should know, here I am replying to another shitty article in the SMH and bemoaning my own faux outrage at society. It’s all bollocks really. Welcome to Earth.
