Dave R; one of the sickest aspects of this sort of behaviour by large offshore corporations is that the army of accountants and lawyers they employ to fight the ATO through the courts are themselves tax deductible.
I often wonder whether more people work as tax accountants and corporate lawyers for BHP in Lonsdale Street Melbourne than work in its mines.
Politicians need to explain to normal Aussie taxpayers why they create systems which advantage large corporations but exclude normal people - how many low income earners get to employ accountants and lawyers to pursue their tax claims?
