For Oz ----------- yes, I agree
but, Oz probably won't suffer an ice age where it's entirely covered
and if it's not entirely covered - then, most likely there will be large amounts of productive ground - AND places where one can produce factory food in vast quantities.
If one had a full on continental drought - well, survival would be as good as being fully covered in ice I'd say ---------- but, a full continental drought is probably not all that foreseeable either
either way - IMO, we are at a technological age where we should be engineering and planning for all kinds of extremes - because one thing is certain -
one day, when, not if ----- we are going to have extremes
so, we can build the boat ----------- 'before it rains' ------
or do as Ozzies normally do - like we are doing in the housing crisis -
think about it 'after we have the crisis' - when it's too late
one look at our current housing crisis suggests that we would have been far better off thinking it through about a decade or several ago - as opposed to now, being stuck between a rock and a hard place
