@Hingdog; your unsubstantiated opinion is noted but what you claim as facts are of course incomplete, misused and selective!

First, let's look at the latest figures for Average Wages and Median Wages in Australia:
Average Full Time Wage: $84, 656 [Scott Morrison's figure - 68% of workers & inclusive of penalty rates]
Average Part Time Wage: $62,000 [32% of workers]
Median Full Time Wage: $55,063 [half of workers earn more, half earn less; inclusive of ALL workers, exclusive of penalty rates]

    https://thenewdaily.com.au/money/fi...erage-australian-wages-revealed/

Since the 1980s in Victoria, teaching has been casualised with most teachers starting on short-term, part-time contracts. Currently a FULL time first year teacher receives $66,396 but since most are NOT full time many receive far less than that [most are females].

In Victoria most FULL time teachers never progress past Level 1-5 [$76,753], that after at least FIVE FULL years in the teaching game. To keep within strict government budgets public schools simply cannot afford to employ mostly experienced teachers and are virtually compelled to employ casuals and inexperienced teachers [mostly females].

    https://www.tes.com/en-au/jobs/care...ions/teaching-pay-scale-victoria

Wages have been virtually frozen and 'incentives' such as teacher housing in remote areas scrapped. Even holidays and superannuation are no longer much different from those enjoyed by other workers - of course, teachers have to take them at times dictated by government. Teachers now even pay for police checks, inservice training and the annual renewal of their teacher registration. As for what they've done to the ROLE of a teacher and to their legal liabilities …. absolutely unreal!

Almost all primary school teachers are females and roughly 55% of secondary teachers are females. Yet those teachers receiving the highest salaries are essentially full time males while those working part-time are almost exclusively females.

Coalition MPs have NO right to be surprised that university entrance score are SO low for teaching - they've denigrated and undermined the teaching profession so that it's far less attractive than it was fifty years ago.
