After Mum's 28 year old Australian made washing machine finally stopped a couple of days ago we've been looking for a replacement.
Nothing is manufactured here anymore and currently stocks are low to non-existent for many models.
When we express our desire to purchase an item not produced in China the sales people just sigh and say "just like every other person who has been in the store in the last month or two"
Australia needs a wake up call to reset our economic future and safeguard the supplies of a multitude of products.
I would happily pay for a quality item that keeps working for many years instead of having to ditch things because it is not economic to repair them.
Those small electrical items are some of the worst offenders. Remember the days when a Sunbeam kettle or iron worked reliably for decades.
