It must be nearly twenty-five, maybe thirty, years ago when, on a business flight to Singapore, I met an Australian business man, who was on his way to that country with the purpose of transferring his manufacturing base to SE Asia. I think it had something to with the production of televisions.
It's been downhill ever since for the Australian manufacturing industry, as it has been for the majority of the Western world, in spite of which it continues to enlarge its welfare benefits, thus attracting an ever increasing number of welfare seekers from overseas.
