Australia and RAMSI are reportedly concerned that Sogavare might jeopardise their interests in the country if he is voted into power.
Mr Sogavare had strained relationships with Australia and RAMSI during his tenure from May 2006 to December 2007 & he accused them of interfering with SI politics as well as plotting his downfall. This was after Sogavare expelled former Aust High Commissioner Patrick Cole & defended SI's suspended attorney general, Julian Moti, whom Aust wants extradited to face child sex charges there.
But the Austalian High Commissioner to SI, Matt Anderson denied Australia was concerned stating that they respect the democratic process & look forward to working with the new PM. This year Australia will spend over $260 million to support SI'ers.
Mr Sogavare's strong, mature and responsible leadership style has already placed him as the public's top choice ahead of tomorrow's election.
