ASB built LCS to the specifications of the USN, so responsibility for their shortcomings lie there.
The concept was for a fast and fearless rat-catcher, operating within air, sea and undersea superiority.
The difficulty appears to be the high levels of maintenance LCS need.
Recent contract wins and the capital support to buy the Mobile AL steel shipbuilding capacity suggests the USN welcomes ASB as a shipbuilder, victualler and repairer.
We await tangible progress on the San Diego wharf and Subic Bay leases. I think the pre-conditions for success in both are present.
The Subic lease is a profound SCS geo-political move. Filipino President Duterte is considered a major impediment. His term is up 30 June 2022 and is ineligible under the Filipino constitution to run again.
