All drugs have serious side effects to a minority of patients, usually rendered susceptible for one reason or another.. or even randomly.. usually in the single digit or sub percentile. Diabetes dramatically increases your chances of an early death. Invokana can in some circumstances have complications. The overwhelming theme is that the risks of untreated diabetes are SIGNIFICANTLY greater. It's a risk tradeoff I would accept if I had diabetes.
The latest trials also looked at the complication risks. I couldn't find a report, but the presentation seems positively spun... I'd like to see a clinical summary of the results. Apparently the trial involved 700,000 patients with diabetes, half on placebo.
