renewable energy systems, backed up by pumped hydro and LSBSS are capable of managing our needs. particularly once we get a system of off-shore turbines. yet, as you know, I agree that nuclear energy is inevitable. and yes you're correct a full investigation by a non-partisan player is much needed to clarify factual status of the potential for nuclear. while we do have the CSIRO Gencost report it doesn't go far enough to thoroughly establish a case for or against nuclear, including SMR tech. our national energy needs are going to increase as our industrial base electrifies. gas and diesel are too high emissions and grossly inefficient. they are unsustainable and higher cost than coal. our energy consumption will increase over the coming years so that we need to ensure we have adequate electricity production. but Dud's "plan" is poorly conceived and considered. all he has is based on denial of the CSIRO report. we need a proper proposal with a business case if we are to consider Dutton as a feasible plan.

It takes around 6 to 8 years to build a nuclear reactor. That's the average construction time globally. Reactors can be built very quickly: some have been built in just 3 to 5 years. Some have long over-runs, spanning multiple decades. 3 Apr 2023
