"These will take many years to implement, maybe never and extremely expensive and fraught with problems." true but nowhere nearly as long or as expensive as Large Scale Nuclear Gen. Dutton should have stuck with SMR

as for energy storage and generation the tech we have now will change to reduce cost and increase energy density over the coming years. therefore I prefer not to base costs on current tech. like SMR we don't know what the future cost will be but will reduce over time and be more sustainable too.

Lithium batteries are the prime case in point. because of Musk's sales strategy Li has become the dominant player. but of course the problems with Li tech are already being challenged. as a country we need to diversify storage tech for longer term/slower energy release for a baseload supply when the wind and the night falls. and pumped hydro too will be an important asset in the market. what we've seen of Snowy and Genex has been difficult and Snowy was severely screwed over by Taylor (he's a candidate for your neanderthal model).

on Bowen..... I'm quite uncertain about Bowen. in the Press Club speeches and Q/A he manages very well. but he's up to the task imo.... far more so than the equivalent drongos opposite - did you see the Obrien interview on 7.30?
