'' breath of ideas''

an important point -------

Oz is a two party land ------------ Labor and Libs
politics is a contest of ideas

now - Labor is the ideas party

Liberals are not (do we need refs for this? - even Morrison has it right)

If one reads history - most ideas in Oz have been Labor. Liberals have had a few, but very few.

So, what that means is that there's only about half the mob who come up with ideas.

Which hopefully should mean that when other mobs have different viewpoints - they may well have more ideas than one bigger mob - about half the place who are idea free.

There seems to be no doubt that places who have more diversity in political movements have more ideas - and if those ideas are thrashed around - then, with luck, a society has more choices on concepts and ideas ------------ doesn't mean they won't have duds - but, it probably means that they will have more thoughts based in contemporary thinking as opposed to trying to run the place like it was 1950
