You are using your usual misleading tactic of mixing one set of a different set of circumstances with another.
And what makes you assume:
- that I agreed with the then Liberal Governnment's lax attitude towards the Vietnamese boat people;
- that the current arrivals are in the same category as the previous boat people. It could be said that, due to our heavy involvement in the Vietnam war, we had some obligation to those who would have been imprisoned by the Commuunist Vietcong Government.
If we continue with this lax approach to the influx of so called 'refugeees' into this country it will inevitablty encourage even more to use the same tactics and claim Refugee Status.
Whichever way you like to cloud the issue Davey boy, it is crystal clear that the current circumstances are vastly different to those existing in the 60s and 70's. Maybe in your sleepy hollow in the Atherton Tablelands you haven't noticed the changes!
