    Thanks for that - I had been on Endone (oxycodone) for a few weeks but Doc switched me to Tramadol as she said it was less likely to cause physical dependence.

    I then took Tramadol for about a month but then stopped as my pain had moderated significantly. I guess Doc would argue she said Tramadol was less likely to cause physical dependence not that it was impossible to cause physical dependence......

    Withdrawal symptoms included anxiety, depression, insomnia, restless arms, sweating, nausea, coughing, streaming nose etc, but it was really bad for 2-3 days, then just insomnia for another 10 days or so. If the pain returns (which is possible as docs have not worked out cause of back pain), I will know to ensure I taper down the dosage before stopping.

    Oh, and I'll get some valium :-)

    A bit off topic, but useful for anyone on painkillers
