Thirty year fixed mortgage in the US,plus they have no negative gearing,makes housing far more affordable,takes the heat out of high wages.
Interest on the home loan in the US is tax deductible in most cases though...that makes home ownership more affordable and allows wages to be quite a lot less and still give people the ability to buy a house...
