It is very dangerous to seek a regional solution to Australia's boatpeople problem.

It isn't a regional problem. People aren't coming from the Middle East to settle in Asia. They are heading for Australia.

We shouldn't be conceding control of our borders to Indonesia or Malaysia. It isn't their business. We shouldn't be negotiating about this.

We will decide who comes to Australia and the manner in which they come.
