The concern is not that Australia was colonised, its more the atrocities that happened along the way following the colonisation. What made Australia the relative paradise it is today is the work of decent people of all ilks who actively worked to change the oppressive aspects of the legacy of colonisation under British rule. This not only occurred in Australia but in many countries including those colonised by other than the British. In America the locals fought a war of independence against their oppressive British masters.

Her in Australia it was a work in progress and the oppression while hugely worse for the indigenous population also extended to the treatment of women in society. The vote was not there under British rule and it took brave activists to bring about needed change. Democracy following British aristocratic rule and good people that migrated here is what changed Australia progressively to make it what it is today.
