I thought we were done doing whatever the loud and obnoxious minority commands? No the date doesn’t really matter, as long as we get a public holiday to celebrate our country, but it’s more about principle and the fact that regardless of what we change it to, a few years from now this small minority (of mainly non-indigenous people I might add) will still find a way to paint any new date as bad in order to more subtly convey their anti-Australian views. I will continue to celebrate this day on any day, and won’t protest a change, but it would be disappointing to see a small minority of people get their way through such tactics as vandalism and anti-Australian rhetoric, and would set a bad precedent (ie that causing chaos, violence and fear is the way to get what you want).
