What is the point of changing Australia Day if everyone is so ignorant of history.
I've been conducting a survey today. Asking people about Australia Day.
I found if i asked them what's Australia day I got answers like, "It's when we celebrate being Australian."
fair enough.
If I refined my question to what historical event does the 26th January, Australia day commemorate I got overwhelming responses that mention Captain Cook and discovery.
So if people want the 26th to represent the establishment of a penal colony perhaps the Government should run an ad campaign with a catchy jingle, mentioning.
