It is not for those that have some understanding of history to argue for change, it is those that are asking for change need to demonstrate the need. It appears nobody who is arguing for change has any idea what the 26th signifies.
The 26th is something special - it is the only holiday spontaneously established by the little people of Australia and not handed down from on high. Way back to 1808 it was a chance for the powerless to "celebrate their love of the land they lived in” with "drinking and merriment” [1]. Moving the date is stealing the people's history and culture by a bunch of ignorant snowflakes and professional agitators.
