On the news this morning was a venue owner 'protesting' Aus Day, by opening his bar and not playing Australian music, no flags etc... woke posturing.

What struck me was this man's name
    - Aran Tanaka Van De Ven.

    So, Japanese and Dutch heritage.

If I could pick any 2 countries that might've settled Australia and REALLY given the aboriginal population something to complain about, it would absolutely be Japan and Holland.

With all the complaining about 'invasions' and lost land etc,
it never seems to occur to some that this was the best of all realistic outcomes.
What did they think the alternative was?
That this massive, sparsely populated, highly desirable land mass would remain untouched by other countries as they continued to invade only eachother as they had done for centuries?
And while the rest of the world developed to previously unimagined levels, that the indigenous population here would continue their primitive tribal existence and keep their treasured culture intact, and unaffected, forever??

No. And it could have been MUCH worse, as I alluded to above.
