No political party wanted to touch the nuclear hot potato debate post-Fukushima, so we should really stop using that as a Labor defense for lack of nuclear action by the NLP when in power.
The ship is heading towards the beach now, so it's never too late to steer in another direction with competent leadership, irrelevant of the past. Blackout Bowen is currently steering the ship and is responsible for having a clear working energy plan. He's been there for two years and is looking currently very incompetent with no clear energy direction.
He has swung to more gas plants on a dime because he knows the grid will not be both reliable nor stable.
