Fast forward to now when nuclear power plants are reopening, life extensions and new builds as the stark realisation that wind turbines and solar farms won't be enough to keep the lights on. Hence, the new policy adoption of nuclear by the Liberals-common sense really while Labor plays politics using CSIRO and GenCost figures to distort the truth. In reality, both organisations have not taken into account the life of a nuclear reactor being up to 5 times longer than solar farms and wind turbines. Basic maths will show that nuclear in the long run will be cheaper and far more dependable than weather dependent energy sources. Cost of replacing solar panels and wind turbines in 20 years time, then another 20years then another 20 years will be astronomical, inflation adjusted.
