    1) Probably because Australia had in the past ridiculously cheap electricity & as such any substantial increase is more noticeable. Double the price of something & people whinge even if the price is still twice as affordable as another country .
    2) Climate certainty would if you had to run electrical heaters or air con systems, as would how well insulated your home was.
