Tax to gdp is just a finger in the wind measure.

Its the burden of taxation on groups within the overall tax take that is more important.

The government needs to collect enough money to do its thing, I accept this.

I have an expectation that they spend the money effectively, and the burden of taxation is shared appropriately across all sectors of society.

I dont believe our current system delivers this.

Ensuring that the tax is collected is important, but so its apportioning the burden fairly.
