No one has forced the Abbott government down the electorate's throat, as you put it.

we voted this government in, because we (collectively) wanted the Labor/Greens coalition out, and we wanted the mess fixed.

Abbott and co are trying to do this now, but the Labor/Greens coalition continue to misunderstand reality.
