Maybe we can all do what they do in Coober Pedy and dig out houses underground but our flooding history would soon fix that.
Some of the smartest houses ever build are in Queensland - aptly called ''Queenslanders''
Simple to build, great ventilation and cyclone and flood resistant and have stood the test of time and bad weather for the past 100 years. They do have a quick combustion issue though.
I agree with the pollution issue but housing is a bit more complex in such a climatically varied country like Australia. A Mediterranean villa is built very differently to an Alpine one.
