    Problem with stone houses is that unless you have some form of heating - it really does gets cold inside in winter (but cool in Suumer). I remember travelling to a small Dalmatian Island many years ago and the locals used build stone''fridges' which were so effective that they kept butter firm on very hot days simply by keeping the stones wet.
