Just to put this in perspective , the steel in question represented about 2 million bucks ?
I don't know the exact value of, for instance, the railway wheels market but the way it works is that a local manufacturer, in this case, The Commonwealth Steel Company makes an application to the anti dumping commission to in effect protect their market, so they can remain in business.
We've seen similar complaints from other Australian manufacturers, especially aluminium products, who are being forced to close down due to cheaper imports.
It seems Comsteel is now Molycop
(Today, our rail products are the only Australian-manufactured rail wheels for passenger, locomotive and heavy haul trains.)
