Menzies Research Centre Senior Fellow NickCater says Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has “bitten the bullet” on where hewould place nuclear power stations.
MrCater joined Sky News host Steve Price to discuss the ongoing push from theOpposition for nuclear energy.
“Ithink it’s also pretty courageous politics, to be honest,” he said.
“Because … Labor’s attack in previous campaigns has been ‘well, where are you going to put this thing? Whose backyard is this going to be in?’
“PeterDutton’s bitten the bullet right up front, and he’s said, ‘well, we’ll put themon retiring coal-fired power stations, and I guess other brownfield sites thatmight be suitable, that have already got the transmission line in for’.”
