I was wondering why it is critical to the survival of the planet for Australia that produces 1% of global carbon emissions to reach net zero earlier than 2050 when China which produces 30% of global carbon emissions has an aspirational target of reaching net zero by 2060?

Is it because someone wants to be applauded at the United Nations and claim the title of Elder Statesman of a particular political party?

What is never mentioned in this debate is those with medical conditions that require reliable cheap energy supply 24/7. This group include but is not limited to the elderly and amputees in case you did not know how important energy is to the maintenance of their health.
