Australia needs produce own steel

Hi

Wondering why Australia hasn’t decided to build our own processing plant to produce steel?? With all the going’s on with China depressing the iron ore price when actually steel products are in high demand. They could build a plant in the Pilbara charge some of the big companies to assist in build costs. This will reduce shipment costs to China. Maybe they could give preference to green steel products like mgt which will help with energy costs and pollution. Don’t know why this has not been done before.
