200 years history in my blood as aussie AND kiwi - related to prominant aussies. YES thats right both countries going back to early 1800's first immigrants.
We are all from "somewhere else" unless we are the "original people". We should embrance each other with love and respect and inclusion!
BUT
What worries me is the cycle of civilsation shows that small immigrant communities can live in a country and NOT take on its identity and culture and as they incr in popn they become increasingly strong politically and fight for rights of their community over and above that of the welfare of their new country. They reamin obsessively loyal to their country of origin instead of embracing their new country. Some become militant.

If immigrants won't take on our culture then don't let them in. Look what is happening in France - they fear they no longer have identity - islam families are the ones increasing in popn not the 1000 year old french families. Uk's most common name is no longer Charles or William or Jack it is Mohammed in it various ways of being spelt. Now in Uk u aren't allowed to mention xmas, god or anything that offends some communities yet it was ok 20 years ago. It is gonna happen here too aussies.
