One of the biggest expenses with aging populations is building the facilities to care for them in their old age assuming they need care.
Therefore it is better to slow the increase now so existing facilities can better cope, by reducing population growth.
I realize we can not stop any increase because of the baby boom generation retiring but I am a baby boomer and so far I am no great strain on the health or aged care system.
Most of my generation are well educated in avoiding disease and keeping ourselves active. We have had good nutrition and health care all our lives and may be in better condition than previous generations for our age. What I am saying is that many baby boomers may stay healthy well into their old age and not be the burden on the hospital and aged care system that it is currently expected we will be.
