I hardly think Australia is trading on the good will of Xi. It is a mutually beneficial trade of safe agricultural products and ores which China desperately needs. They can get it elsewhere but Australia is much closer to China than other exporters of these products.
Chinas agricultural products are not considered safe at all especially after the milk disaster when they killed and poisoned children by putting Melamine in the milk to bulk it up so they could make more for less. China's ores are not of the same grade or quantity of the Australian ores.
They could get these things elsewhere but it would be much more difficult.
