yes, I too, have heard some time ago a similar story about one of the reasons why teenagers are taking so many (illegal) drugs is because of the high price of alcohol and the regulation of its sale. I think it was either Father Bob or Les Twentyman who told the story ? But he said something like "if it costs $300+ for a good night out on alcohol, but only cost $15 for a good night out on ecstasy (or what ever), then the choices for a cash strapped teenager is fairly obvious."
Though, I am hoping that the campaign for the prohibition of alcohol advertising, like tobacco products had, picks up momentum in the near future.
Getting back to the matter of carbon tax. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for reducing the burning of fossil fuels or to get more work done from burning the same amount, but adding a percent or two to the cost of hydrocarbons will not be enough to change people's habits.
