Imagine cba didnt buy bankwest, it'd have gone under which would have wide ranging implications. Perth losses have been offset/mitigated by falling bad debts across the east. If perth had tanked in 2008-2012 when the east coast was struggling it'd be a completely different story.
Ultimately perth is just too small a market too cause issues while the rest of the nation was growing.
