Do you think the handing off of responsibility to QANGOs and bureaucracy by Y2K govts might be the real reason for the titivating around the edges while the public bears the pain?
Sadly I don't think we have hit bottom yet and because of it we will be served up a barrage of deflections in the form of 'emergency' risks to our economy, our health, peace, climate, martian invasion, etc.
If the govt is going to take advice from the Canberra bubble, why bother having elections instead of just thrown a couple of dice.
