with rents being the biggest driver of inflation - and with a rental crisis years in the making AND unstoppable
Albo can't be blamed for it I'm afraid
Oz has been building itself inside a perfect trap for decades. Eventually, if it continued to build - the trap had to trigger. And, trigger it has.
All of the problems that Oz is experiencing now (and there's a hell of a lot more than expensive rents) - many decades back, certainly the 50's, certainly the 60's and just, the 70's -
could have been overcome with some kind of guts and determination and some actual thinking
but, add 50 years and here we are in a very different era. To catch up now, to change - one would need the most extraordinary amount of guts and determination for the whole country to be involved - at all levels of government and corporate and everyday people -
possible? - technically possible, yes. Practically? I suggest no, not a snowballs chance in hell.
Even the very very very basic of all - one thing
what is the time honoured mechanism - the first trigger that a country pulls to begin a major effort to get out of a bog?
Education.
That's the trigger you pull. That's your big investment.
Do we see that in Oz? No. If we take STEMS Ed and research for instance - this is what we see ------ many years of cutting - cut cut cut.
The very first mechanism one uses to lever oneself out of the bog.
If a nation isn't awake to that and actioning it - then, the rescue mission - doesn't exist.
