The Asian places are cheap but don't have much other attraction for me. Ditto India and Pakistan.
The lack of hygiene, health and law and order don't attract me.
I like France too. I always found the people friendly, the architecture great and from one interaction the health system good. Germany and Switzerland, away from the cities, were good.
England seems to be in decline, the NHS is a mess.
Climate is important as you say. Some lovely spots in Chile, Brazil and Argentine. But minor corruption thrives.
I am entitled to a European passport but never bothered to get it. And yes there was a patriotic edge to that.
But its becoming clear that despite being born in Australia many regard me as not Australian. I used to be annoyed at the "welcome to country" tape on QANTAS flights. Now I realise they were just conditioning us that this isn't our home.
