Buying a French submarine was a strange decision when we are closely allied with the USA who are the world leaders in submarines. Then to redesign it for diesels seemed the height of insanity. I was pleased when Turnbull turned to politics. At last, a businessman! But then I came to realise that he was a lawyer and a merchant banker. Not quite the businessman I was hoping for. Now we have to support nuclear submarines with no homegrown nuclear industry . Interesting days
