    moondoong,

It had been argued over many times before here last year. This Labor government has steered Australia through the ravages of the GFC very well. The public money spent was well spent.

We have an economy that is the envy of the world, our unemployment continues to fall. If the Liberals had had their way, our unemployment would be a lot lot higher than what it is today, and many small businesses would already closed their doors at the time of the GFC.

I do not wish to re-argue over this "waste" which the Liberals leaning brigade keep bringing up. It had all been talked about last year in several threads here in Politics.

All governments have their inefficiencies in the implementation of their programmes.

The truth of the matter is: the country is cruising on well without a Liberal government at the helm, and this is this fact that it seems to me many posters here still cannot bring themselves to accept.

John Howard had neglected our public hospital system. He had neglected our public infrastructure assets. He had neglected our education system. Labor has had quite a few major deficiencies left behind by him to fix. A lot of his budget surpluses over the years could have been spent in these areas, but they were wasted in tax cuts which had benefited the well-off more than the poor.
