    The other thing is there is plenty of food out there in Australia.

    Just that our restrictive government has practices that limit the viability of farming. I will give a few examples.

    1) the need to apply for and adhere to ludicrous Department of water policies when dam building and clearing

    2) the local shire putting roads at the base of gullys effectively making dam building 10x the expense

    3) too many gov workers wanting kickbacks for nothing.

    4) the inability to build due to shire policies requiring double glazed glass etc and different roofing - all designed to keep the masses working and the government pen pushers with a wage

    In South America where they are bringing blue gums from do you think farmers need to pay a permit for these things?

    Blue gums were 40$/t Stumpage here 4 years ago. Now lucky to get 20, better off grazing.

    We have become a nanny state. Farming is the backbone of our country and the government appears to be contributing to its demise.
